SUBJECT: Microphones for the small budget
Thanks for the help. I have ordered two AKG C1000's for starters, since they have consistently received very favorable recommendations from all quarters. My search for a quality 1" large-diaphragm condensor still continues, however. It is my belief that the Behringer B2, with it's cardioid and omni patterns and a street price of only $270 USD, could fulfill a dual role of primary solo vocal or instrumental mic, as well as a middle omni for a cardioid-omni-cardioid stereo-field array.

Would I be better off buying a Rode NT1, AKG C2000B or similiar 1" and a dedicated small-diaphragm omni like the Audio-Technica AT-series?

By the way, I bought two C1000's at Sam Ash for $145 each - after I mentioned the 2 for $300 deal at Musician's Friend.
