Listing: PSP games and devices' Port Numbers (Also Port forwarding & DMZ).
(Last revised 3/22/07)
This thread is intended to list games and PSP compatible devices' and their port number combinations. This way you don't spend hours online looking for the required ports so you can play online. I encourage users to submit (reply) with games/devices' and their port number combinations which they know of but aren't listed here.

5. Port Opening & IP Reservation* To navigate to these settings try the "Gaming Admin, Administrative, Advanced, Portforwarding, and DMZ" tabs
  • Ah, yes, port forwarding, the most confusing thing to nonliterate computer people
  • Basic overview of ports: Your computer and router are protected by a firewall, almost anyone nowadays has an idea of what a firewall is. The firewall protects you from attacks and it can also be a pain, for instance, gaming. So this whole port forwarding thing is opening up sections (ports) in the routers' firewall to allow communication of the PSP and the online game servers.

  • There are two aproaches to port opening; you can either "port forward" or if your router supports it put your PSP in the DMZ. The DMZ ellimaitets port forwarding by putting your PSP (or other device) in front of the firewall. So basicly the PSP is not behind the firewall anymore and is free to any communication that it is capable of.
  • Every router is dfferent in this area. I will be showing you how to do it with a WRT54G-Wireless Router. Most routers are similair, but if yours isn't, refer to the manual
  • Port forwarding
    • You need to make a name for the service, you can name it "PSP". And lets say your opening port TCP 7001, to do that you put 7000 in the starting range, and 7002 in the ending range. Put protocol to either TCP or Both (I use both). Now, for the IP, we will be using an IP of "192.168.1.45". So enter that here, we will also give the PSP this IP when making the connection. (This is called a Static IP Address)
  • DMZ
    • The DMZ is less of a hassle, the only downside is your only allowed one device in the DMZ. Make sure the DMZ is enabled, and enter "192.168.1.45" as the IP.
